Activity description

The Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) is a public agency dedicated to cultural diplomacy and international arts exchange. Born in its present form out of the rehabilitation of the notion of Romanian cultural cooperation, the RCI has thrived, since 2005, under the guidance of a new and visionary executive board.

Through its network of dynamic antennas, RCI has forged a highly visible and flourishing open space for intercultural dialogue, connecting vibrant Romanian arts and artists to the evolving international scene.

The most important action lines of RCI are:

* Presenting compelling Romanian culture to international audiences;
* Connecting specific Romanian cultural domains to broad international venues and intellectual networks;
* Subtly designing a new approach based on the encouragement of daring contemporary arts on one hand and, on the other, the creative preservation of traditional cultural Romanian values.

These action lines translate into a strategy whose crucial merit is to follow upon assertive curatorial choices and trust building modalities to engage an efficient traffic of ideas between varied resource clusters of organizations and individuals.

The Romanian Cultural Institute develops a large array of activities coordinated by its headquarters in Bucharest and through the existing 17 antennas on two continents: Berlin, Brussels, Budapest, Istanbul, Lisbon, London, Madrid, New York, Paris, Prague, Rome, Stockholm, Sziget, Tel-Aviv, Warsaw, Venice and Vienna.

Besides the activities it initiates and carries out in cooperation with various partners, the Romanian Cultural Institute has also developed a series of funding programs for cooperation in the arts and the promotion of Romanian arts and culture, which are open to both Romanian and foreign individuals and organizations.
